Randel Veerits appointed to the Management Board of the explosives producer Hexest Materials AS

The Supervisory Board of Hexest Materials AS, a company preparing the production of military explosives, has appointed Randel Veerits as a member of the Management Board as of 22. September 2025, who has a long track record of management and start-up experience in the industrial sector.

Veerits has, among other things, served as CEO of plywood producer Estonian Plywood AS from 2016-2020 and since 2020 as Director of the Paide plant of E-Piim Tootmine AS. In both positions, he was responsible for the construction and start-up of the new plant and the implementation of the €50 million and €175 million investments respectively.

“Past experience and knowledge of Randel Veerits will support Hexest Materials in achieving its strategic objectives. Hexest Materials will have a strong CEO who will contribute to the achievement of the owner’s goals and pave the way for the development of an Estonian military explosives industry to support the country’s defence capabilities as a defence industry,” said Henry Uljas, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hexest Materials AS.

Randel Veerits, Member of the Management Board of Hexest Materials: “It is an honour to be working on a project of strategic importance for the Estonian state. The Estonian connection is motivating – while my earlier projects to build and start up the factory, based mainly on Estonian capital, were aimed at refining local raw materials, the aim now is to contribute to the development of the country’s defence industry. The company faces the challenge of paving the way for a completely new industry in Estonia. I will use my previous experience to make the best use of the goals I have set.”

Hexest Materials is a state-created company, managed by the Ministry of Defence, which is active in the production of the military explosive RDX. The main objective is to set up a RDX military explosives plant and start production in 2028. By that time, a strategic investor will also be involved. This is a new area of production in the Estonian defence industry.
